We are off to a great start celebrating our excellence at Pattie Elementary, home of the Pattie Panthers! With your help and support at home, we will continue to teach and model our positive behavior mission of Personally Achieving Teamwork Trust Integrity and Effort! Our mission will be achieved through modeling and teaching mini-lessons for our vision of the PURR-fect Panther: Polite, United, Respectful and Responsible. We look forward to having all of our students achieve and excel every day!

Each year we encourage and welcome parents and family members into the school to volunteer and partner with us in the education of our students. There are many tasks that volunteers can do to support the goals and initiatives of the school and division. If you are interested, please phone Ms. Kim Gardziel, assistant principal and volunteer coordinator at 703-670-3173. Our next Volunteer Information Session is scheduled for Wednesday October 7th at 10:00 am. We hope to see you there!

I will be hosting a Principal’s Coffee on Wednesday October 7th at 9:00 am, just prior to the Volunteer Information Session. I will be reviewing our SOL Data from last spring in relation to No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), and Virginia state accreditation. Everyone is invited! Please sign in, at the front office in the main Pattie building, and I will meet you in the library!

Children progress faster and at a steadier pace when they attend school every day. Excessive tardies and absences slow student progress and cause many students to fall behind. You may contribute to your student’s success by preparing them to be at school each day on time and ready to learn. An earlier bedtime this year may help with our earlier bell times!

Student learning and student safety are two of our top priorities. In following Prince William County’s initiative, Safe and Healthy School Environment, we practiced a bus evacuation, a tornado drill, a shelter in place drill, lockdown drill and four fire drills in the first 30 days at both buildings! The students were well prepared for all of the drills and took them very seriously.

I look forward to working with you again this school year. Working together, we can make this the best year ever! If you have any questions or concerns please call or email me at 703.670.3173 or otterbma@pwcs.edu .
